Dr Jason Michael

Specialist paediatric dentist

BDS BScDent(Hons) DClinDent MRACDS (Paed)

Jason graduated from the University of Adelaide with Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Science in Dentistry (Honours) degrees. He was awarded the University Medal for his academic achievements.

As a new graduate, Jason worked in a number of regional and rural clinics in Central Queensland. During this time it was his experiences in the School Dental Clinics that sparked his interest in Paediatric Dentistry. After graduating with a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry) degree at the University of Sydney, Jason commenced part-time private practice in Sydney and part-time work at Westmead Centre for Oral Health.

After moving to the Illawarra with his young family Jason decided to start a locally-based paediatric dental practice to serve the community.

Jason lectures both locally and interstate on a variety of topics and has published a number of research papers. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his growing family, playing tennis, cycling, running and swimming.

Jason is a member of the following groups: Australian Dental Association, Australasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry, Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry, International Association of Dental Traumatology and Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Dr. Sabrina Michael Orthodontist

Dr Sabrina Michael

Specialist orthodontist

BDS BScDent(Hons) DClinDent MRACDS (Ortho)

I decided I wanted to be an orthodontist when I was in high school. Having braces literally changed my life, not only in that the experience inspired me to pursue a career as a specialist orthodontist, but more specifically the absolute appreciation I had in how the experience of having braces had transformed me, both in giving me a beautiful smile and also in changing the way I felt about myself. To have the opportunity to share in that experience repeatedly with others and to be able to help them to achieve a smile that is not only healthy but also that they feel delighted to share, is what satisfies me most about being an orthodontist.

I grew up in Wollongong and attended high school at St Mary Star of the Sea College. In 2003, I moved to Adelaide to study dentistry, graduating with both a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Bachelor of Science in Dentistry (Honours) – first class.

In 2010, I commenced my specialist orthodontic study, after being successfully accepted to study post-graduate specialist training in orthodontics at the University of Sydney. I completed an additional three-year intensive speciality programme to graduate with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) in 2012. Since specialising, I have worked locally as an orthodontist and as a lecturer at the University of Sydney. I am a member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Orthodontics and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons. I continue to maintain a passion for learning and orthodontics, always striving to extend myself and my dedication to this profession.

I am delighted to work at Illawarra Paediatric Dentistry, alongside my husband, Dr Jason Michael, so that we may combine our specialties of orthodontics and paediatric dentistry. This allows us to provide highly personalised, specialist dental care to your children. Having three children of our own, has given us both a new perspective into the love and dedication you have for your child, along with the daily challenges being a parent brings.  I value the importance of good communication and use a tailored approach for each child to ensure that you receive the highest standard of care in a happy and comfortable environment.

My family and I have made the Illawarra our home and we love being part of this friendly local community. I enjoy sharing my spare time with my family and friends, as well as running, swimming and enjoying our beautiful coastline.

If you have any orthodontic concerns for your child, please feel free to contact me at Illawarra Paediatric Dentistry. I am looking forward to meeting you
